Pietro Sillano

I’m a PhD researcher in biophysics at the Delft University of Technology and the University of Groningen, supervised by Timon Idema and Siewert J. Marrink.

I develop mesoscale models of lipid membranes, bridging atomistic simulations and continuum mechanics to reach the length and time scales of cellular processes. My current project is MesoMem, a coarse-grained membrane model implemented in LAMMPS.

Background

I completed my MSc in Physics of Complex Systems at the University of Turin in 2023. My thesis, carried out at SISSA (Trieste) under the supervision of Angelo Rosa, focused on polymer models and molecular dynamics simulations of nuclear chromatin.
